A typical CCTV system is made up of IP surveillance cameras, Network Video Recorder (NVR), hard drives, cabling or network infrastructure and monitoring devices such as TV’s, monitors, laptops or cellphones.
IP cameras are connected to a local network via Ethernet cable or wireless technology (we recommend Ethernet cable connection for better performance), providing a live digital broadcast of the video surveillance. Analog cameras capture analog video signal which is then transferred to a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) over coax cable. The DVR converts the analog information into digital, compresses it and stores it in a hard drive for later retrieval. IP cameras offer higher resolution and easier remote monitoring than analog cameras.
Every network camera system is different based on the client’s needs and requirements. The days of recording depend on the number of cameras, the resolution of the cameras, the recording mode (continuous or motion-based), the NVR’s capacity and the hard drive’s capacity.
